Going to the Dogs

Greyhound racing has both supporters and opponents with equally strong views. The animal activists who believe it to be cruel and inhumane. The fans, owners and supporters who argue that it is a sport like any other with stringent regulations.
Whatever side of the fence you are on, the reality is the sport is declining. Not just in the UK but worldwide.
Here is an interesting article from the Guardian late last year on the status of the industry.

Ah, yes - I remember it well - sight, sound & smell. Long time ago.
Good action shot, Mo.

I like how you were able to capture this moment in time. The dogs look like statues, not like racers. Excellent shot.

Great action shot, Mo. Unfortunately I don't like this kind of so called sports. I don't like horse races either and I'm NOT even an animal rights actvist...Ciao. A.

Don't you think participating in racing games would give the dogs something to be proud of? I am a firm believer of active life style for all living beings, including dogs. LOL.

Nice link, Mo.

My state finally voted to ban the sport on the last election. I used to live a mile away from the main dog track, and I used to hate seeing the trucks they rode in. They pack way too many dogs in a truck that has tiny little air vents for windows. It just made me so sad...

I don't think we even have dog racing here. Dog-something-else, but I don't think you want to know!

Never seen dog races for real. Only in the movies. I didn´t knew it was cruel to the dogs.

Hilda...I do know. have spent a lot of time in Asia. It interesting how different cultures feel about various animals. Which ones humanise animals and the animals they select.
