Skywatch Friday - Cathedral of Sewage

Well it used to be. This is the now disused Abbey Mills sewer treatment plant. A interesting history can be found here.
As always on Friday, check out the other skies around the globe.

  6. Wow, so pretty, especially considering what it is. And looks like someone's keeping the paint job up.

  7. Must be the best looking sewer plant in the world.

  8. Such an ornate treatment plant. Would be an interesting tour inside. I wonder why it hasn't become an office or workshop.

  9. The Victorians built some beautiful utilitarian buildings - shame we can't do the same.

  10. I agree with Hyde DP. This is so beautiful that no one would care what it really is. Why don't we still do this?!

  11. I watched the tour on TV the other night, the inside was stunning! Thanks Mo for another good shot. Glad to see you are having blue skies. Bit wet & windy down under, with grey clouds. Still blue sky though.

  12. It does look like a church tower! Unusual for a sewer treatment plant, to say the least.

  13. This is beautiful. Why should these kinds of buildings be ugly? We have to see them every day, so it's a good thing when they're built to please the eye.
