Skywatch Friday - Steaming up the Thames

The 100 year old President is a lovingly restored steam engine canal boat. During its heyday a unique and fast way to transport goods by canal. Canal boats during that time were drawn by horse alongside the canal. Hence the tow-paths that we walk and cycle along now.
Here President is steaming up the Thames to part take in the Henley Regatta this weekend.

Remember to visit other skywatchers around the world

Must have been such a common site not so long ago.

They did a great job restoring that boat, she certainly doesn't look like she's 100 years old!

The clouds are great too, a nice combination of puffy and wispy ones :o)

Great photo of the canal boat! Glad to see the London bridges are NOT falling down!

Isn't it wonderful to feel that click of connection with the history of something?

The clouds look as if you've painted them in -- perfectly.

«Louis» enjoys seeing old technology preserved. When the steam barge was new, it was the cutting edge of THAT technology...

Re your comment at San Francisco Bay Daily Photo: «Louis» is quite the admirer of Winston Churchill, so he knows about the Spencer connection!

Hi Mo, just found your blog. That's so cool! I'll come here more often to check your adventures in London. I explore a big city myself, New York, at lateralwindow.blospot.com.
Love your blog!!

Tow-paths for horses? Hmm, boating was a messy business back then.

A most interesting blog. Great photos and commentary. I got to live in London for three months a while back and enjoyed it so much. I'll follow so I don't miss anything... loved the goose feet shot!
