Pop-Up Stores

Pop-up stores , guerilla restaurants, they are the new thing. Existing from an hour to a few weeks, they can appear in derilict warehouses or in the best streets.

The marmite store, do you know about marmite? A peculiar black sandwich spread made from a yeast extract that is a by-product of beer brewing.
For children of English, South African or New Zealand background this is as iconic as Noddy, dinky toys or buzzy bees.
As they say you either love it or hate it.
Their pop-up store in Regent St will exist a few weeks (until the end of the year).

Yuck - Marmite is vile! Couldn't they have filled the space with lovely pasteries, cakes, chocolates or something worth eating?

Love Marmite especially with cheese melt! These pop-up stores are very intriguing. None here in York unfortunately. Ciao. A.

I love Marmite .... the secret is to spread very thinly on a buttered cracker - yummy.

Great blog - it's on my "must-read" list :o)

What a cool idea. The officials here wouldn't tolerate them for so long.

It all looks very chic. And I love the idea of a pop up store.

You always have your finger on the pulse Mo. These pop-up shops are a brilliant idea - I hope they stick around and other ideas come out of this

At least it's just temporary! I'm with Karen: Vile's the word.

A store (albeit a pop-up one) just for Marmite? What will they think of next?

A pop up store! that will never be allowed in Washington,DC. I think it is a great and colorful idea. It is just hard to imagine here. Besides the marmite store any other kind?

I saw this the other day, I didn't realise it was a pop-up store! I hate marmite btw.

The funny thing is "It's a Marmite thing" is now short hand for "You either love it or you hate it".

I love Marmite flavoured stuff (like the rice cakes, LOVE the rice cakes) but not Marmite itself. Weird.

I didn't know this sort of enterprise (like calender shops) were called Pop-up stores, but it makes sense.

Love it or hate it? Hate it!

I went to a pop-up Diet Coke store in Boston last month. Everything in the store was free! :)
