Meet John. He and others who are homeless or vulnerable sell the Big Issue as a way to change their situation. The motto of the Big Issue is 'a hand up not a hand out'. So if you pass by John or any other seller of this magazine, buy a copy.
This is an awesome concept. We should try to do even more. Some of the kids I counsel live in shelters, and I am always trying to think up ways to give them a "hand up". Great idea. And awesome pic!
This morning we read an article about The Big Issue with my students during our lesson! We discussed about it and ... it was interesting. We didn't know about it since we live in Italy. Great idea to help homeless people to help themselves and find their way back to a more comfortable life!
Always! :)
ReplyDeleteI always buy a Big Issue from a very nice and kind "John" here in York. They're trying their best. Thanks, Mo, for publishing this! Ciao. A.
ReplyDeleteA great idea to turn things around! Rock on, John, rock on!

ReplyDeleteGreat idea. We no longer live in a city where you can get/do things like that, but I'm so glad it is happening.
ReplyDeleteTough times for many! John seems to keep up! Good luck to him ... and the others!
ReplyDeleteHe has a pleasant smile. Nice portrait. I like this idea and I can appreciate it.
ReplyDeleteHello John. I bought a copy in Sweden a while back as I took a portrait of the guy selling it. That issue featured a interview with Bob Dylan.
