You've got Bixis!!! Or at least that's what we call them in Montreal :o) We got the idea from Paris and put the system into use last year and then New York gave it a shot (don't know if they kept them though?) and now you guys are doing it! They just keep getting more and more popular here :o)
I hear of big problems with vandalism with the Paris project. Let's hope London makes a better showing. Are helmets required in London? Are there helmets with these bikes?
Apparently, the big issue in Paris is the tourists. They use them as a "cheap" way of touring the city. They are really neat to see though and I have a similar picture of them from Paris. I hope they work out for London!
I personally think it is a terrible idea. In my humble opinion there are already enough cyclists that haven't got a clue about the rules of the road and as well as those that are too scared to go on the road so they cycle on the pavements.
I think it would have been a better idea to make the roads safer for cyclists, and possible giving them all road awareness lessons, and what about some cycle helmets cause they are going to need them...Can you guess how much I dislike cyclists?
Such schemes maybe works in other cities where the cyclists have got manners, sense and the roads aren't as crazy as they are in London.
