A slightly decaying statue of Sir Joshua Reynolds , 18th century painter, in Leicester Square.
He specialised in portraits.Do you think he might have painted Tom Cruise if he was around today? Or would he have chosen the man on the cell phone (in the right hand side of the image).
«Louis'» guess is that he would through up his hands in disgust at the low state of "culture" these days and retire to a hut on a deserted beach along the Mediterranean...
I think he would leave Tom Cruise to the Paparazzi. He might paint more respectable movie stars though, like Julia Roberts or Tom Hanks! Maybe the Royal Family too.
I wonder who did that portrait of him. He looks a shade glum!
ReplyDeleteActually, Reynolds is probably more popular than Cruise at the moment.
ReplyDeleteI hope he could come up with someone better than Tom Cruise. Things sure have changed though.

ReplyDeleteI am with Louis la Vache, i think he might paint something making fun of the celebrity and reality starts of today
ReplyDeletee se avesse dipinto semplicemente gente comune?????credo che avrebbe avuto di più che a dipingere tom cruise, con tutto il rispetto ciao elisabetta
