These days the only chain I like is Pret though the coffee in Costa is usually quite nice. I once had 2 consecutive cups of Starbucks cappuccino and it made me feel really ill, like drinking liquid foam, I have never been able to enter one of their cafes again!
I am in the minority among your commenters so far. I love Starbucks and even have their store locator on my iPhone. It is always a reliable cup of coffee and usually a pleasant place to sit for a while with good music and a newspaper.

ReplyDeleteI'm not a coffee drinker but, I still notice these places all everywhere.
ReplyDeleteGosh - not heard of that one yet. It is mandatory to have the letters STA in the titles of a coffee chop chain then?
ReplyDeleteIs it a fancy place? For regular coffee, Tim Horton's is definitely number one in Canada.
ReplyDeleteI hate the way all the chains do sizes which are much to big.
ReplyDeleteAnd whats a frappo-macho -with syrup and cream on the top anyway
I always find these chain coffee house drinks too strong for me.
ReplyDeleteI don't like coffee so have no experience of these chains. I wish I did like coffee because I love the smell.

ReplyDeleteGive it a few more years and Subway will top both of them.
ReplyDelete@Jack - Costa is a lot like Starbucks, but with only about half the pretense/self-importance. Which is still too much by about half.
i'd prefer tea :)
ReplyDeleteStarbucks - yes please! I live in Sweden and the only Starbucks is after passport control at the airport...
