Our red telephone boxes turned green? There is not a lot of call for public telephone boxes in an age of mobile phones and so they have been reinvented into other uses. Many have become wifi hotspots. Others art pieces.
These ones have Samaritan signs in the windows. It is to mark the 60th anniversary of Samaritans and to raise awareness of their service.
Never seen green ones, mind you I have seen gold post boxes
ReplyDeleteThese are great! Love them.
ReplyDeleteI like these too! But the red phone boxes will always be my favorite! And they have become such a great British icon!Everybody loves them! :)
ReplyDeleteMany in the villages around here are becoming book-exchanges, though I suppose the Kindle may even make that use redundant before long.
ReplyDeleteNow green ones I have not seen - Irish? They have all pretty much died a death with the advent of mobiles. I'm from the old Button 'A', Button 'B' generation of phone boxes.
ReplyDeleteI must have a "traditionalist" streak in me because I finding this color just not fitting for these lovely phone boxes.
ReplyDeleteThey're quite neat!
ReplyDeleteThis is a cool re-use of those iconic telephone boxes. I followed your link and read about the Samaritans. It seems to be a fine organization.
