That sign does make you wonder. This looks very much like the corner I had to turn when returning to that house I stayed at in Balham on my last visit. I walked along a wall like this with the train tracks above and I turned and went under the tracks at the corner.
Trains are notoriously hard to control, traffic wise, if you know what I mean. Bikes and pedestrians and some autos can be controlled, but not trains. Unless, of course, it's the end of the line. :)
