Flower Market

The Columbia Rd flower market in Shoreditch is a wonderful lively market open every Sunday 8am to 2pm. It's origins go back to 1869 first established as a food market. Its Sunday only trading was brought about by an act of Parliament in order to accommodate the local Jewish traders. Now there are over 30 flower & plant stalls, lots of cafes and shops selling art, bric a brac, furniture and all sorts of wonderful things. Its great to get there close to closing if you want really fantastic bargains as the stall holders are all loudly competing to sell off what ever they have left.

Love that scene, Mo. It's so universal. :)

(10º C in London? Chilly weather, eh? Here we are enjoying a "heat wave." ;D)

So gorgeous! Reminds me of when I lived in Bolivia and the flower market was so fun--I would buy myself flowers just because I could. And the wonderful fruit and vegetable market on the same street. Sigh.

I miss having fresh markets. Here there are not very many outdoor markets, mainly because of the snow..., but during the summer there are a few.

Enjoy them while you can!!
