G20 Protests

Yesterday saw protests around the city. You can't be in London and be unaware that the G20 is happening. Streets are closed. Police are everywhere. However the biggest group must be the media. They are here from all over the world. Many might be better employed writing fairy stories. Forget aggressive protesters, its the media who win hands down.
The front line was a mass of media.

I shut the news off. It was pitiful how adults whine on television.

I don't see what either side is going to achieve. The leaders will yak and then disagree. The protesters will smash everything to bits.

And the media will be the news and change the news by their very presence.

I know how I felt in September 2007 when Bush etc arrived in town for an APEC meeting. Could not move anywhere, park anywhere. But the most irritating thing were the low buzzing helicopters. Spare me ...

They have these meetings all the time. The can't seem to agree on anything. We hosted the G7 In Miami a few years ago. Mass hysteria by the media and the protesters.

This is certainly a colorful set of protesters. They look more like comedians than true protesters. Interesting times!

thanks for the protester shots. quite interesting. i like it that they posed and we can read all of the signs. I am glad you enjoyed the Chihuly Saffron Tower on my site for theme day. I have a daytime photo of the Saffron Tower up today. Thanks for your comments.

At least these aren't "angry" protesters! ;-)

It is interesting hearing about the G20 from a different perspective than the media...and it doesn't surprise me a bit that they have all descended on London.

Great shot. All looks quite good natured from here. Did you see it get hairy later on?

In parts of the world, people risk their lives to achieve democracy. And where we have freedom, this is the kind of respect our elected leaders are enjoying.

I've heard many, if not most, of the protesters were peaceful, but the media focused on the not-so-peaceful ones!

A real media driven circus. Will anything come from this summit?
