Georgian Greek

The new St Pancras church on Euston Rd, built around 1820 based on the Greek Acropolis. These are the doors around the back leading to the crypt.
Delusions of grandeur?

Those Greeks look as though they've got terrific headaches from holding up the entablature (I just looked that up!!) Deportment lessons were tough in those days ;-)

Definitely - it's a slightly weird church, I always think. That red door has a touch of the Chinese/ oriental about it too!

Actually, when the Euston arch was in place (and equally ostentatious) just across the road it wouldn't have looked so out of place. It does look a bit weird amongst all the glass and steel these days though, but I still love it!

I agree that the door has an oriental look about it - that was my first thought too.

I am fascinated by quirky/weird churches. I may have to check this out next time I'm around St. Pancras...
