Sunday Bridges - Blackfriars Rail

Part of the original Blackfriars rail bridge that opened in 1864. The structure became too weak to support modern trains so another bridge was built alongside.
This is undergoing major works for the new Thames link due to open next year.

'London Chatham and Dover Railway' and Invicta (for Kent) on this splendid adornment make London sound as though it's part of Kent!

I know which one I like best!!! Love the two men at work (or not).
Mo, have you read 'The house by the Thames' by Gillian Tindall? A must read for anyone interested in the Bankside area.

Those day-glo orange work clothes add some punch to this image - handy that they tone with the paintwork on that marvellous emblem.

Lots going on here, I like the two men chatting during a pause while the other one just watches whatever it is he's watching. For the rest, well, it's almost royal.

I love all that fancy stuff. And the two workers really make the photo!

Nice contrast between the workers in their orange and the intricate sign above them. «Louis» is pleased to read that the bridge is being restored - and he appreciates your contribution to Sunday Bridges.
