Hundreds of Thousands Protest

Figures range from quarter of a million to half a million, however there was no doubt it was one of London's biggest demonstrations. Protesters ranged from the very young to the very old all with a clear message, some humorous, but all expressing opposition to the government's proposed cuts.

This is a global phenomena,I think, it is time to end the post cold war politics and kick off a new politics for a new global world.

Having a solid experience in Belgrade protests against Milosevic in the 1990s, I can say that crowd estimates made by police were the most exact. Although their estimates seemed too conservative :-). Nice image!

We did not get "the humorous messages" on Norwegian TV, nor in the newspapers :)
Thanks for sharing!

Gosh you were in the middle of all that. I love your photo. It did seem there were some anarchists in the crowd who were using violence for no good reason.

I would have gone if I could. My daughter was there - she texted me later "Safely home Ma, and we didn't get 'kettled'" !

Quite a few members of the union I'm in (PCS) were there. Shame about the troublemakers giving protests a bad name

Always, there are a handful of troublemakers stirring up violence! I hope the government aren't deflected from noticing just how many genuine protesters are unhappy with their super-fast cuts!

All we saw on our news was the anarchists who seem to be always on the alert for this type of occasion!

A great protest to be on, it was more like being on a carnival. After 6 hours I couldn't take any more and for the record because I work for myself I'm not in the Union, but I'm backing them!

At least the Anarchists in London were more peaceful than those protesters in Libya and I personally feel that our Politicians are just as corrupt as Gaddafi, but granted they not as brutal!
