Balmy Autumn

Walking through St James Park yesterday if it wasn't for the leaves on the ground it was hard to believe it is the middle of November and will soon be winter. So far it is turning into the warmest November on record, even some of the plants have been fooled into thinking it is spring and we've had a few spring flowers and an extended season for strawberries.
One of the things you will notice about the English if you spend any amount of time here is that they obsess about the weather. Most conversations will include some comment on the weather at some point. I recently made a comment, that perhaps we wouldn't have a white Xmas this year. I was immediately referred to 'an expert on weather' and specifically to his comments: I am fully expecting a significant and imminent pattern change
"I am fully expecting a significant and imminent pattern change...."
"I really won't have any of this talk about a mild winter, will the people who feel the need to email me every hour of the day trying to convince me otherwise, please stop this?"

What say you? Do you think I'll have a white Xmas?

It has been unseasonably warm! Not sure about the white Xmas.. it will be nice to get some snow but only once everyone has reached their destinations as we can do without the disruptions snow can bring :-)

It's unbelievable weather for the time of year, although it has dropped back a little today towards normal; just hope it does not mean a hard winter.

I think it has been turning since Friday and we are indeed in line for a normal winter weather pattern. My dad (who lives in Liverpool) disagrees, he says that bad winters like the last two only come along once every ten years and that we're due to continue on the pattern of mild south-eastern winters.

What a beautiful photograph! It is stunning!!

No, I don't. I've been to Christmas in England like 5 times, and only ONE time was there a quarter of an inch of snow on the ground. It rained every other Christmas. LOL

Yes, we are obsessed by the weather but thats because its so changeable and very rarely are 2 days the same. But then how boring to live some place where you could guarrantee the the weather would be sunny for the BBQ next week..........but then maybe not!!!!

Warm did you say? I agree that yesterday was beautiful, but today, it's suddenly turned distinctly chilly. That's why we English obsess about the weather; it's so bloody unpredictable!

One thing I know is that I don't know anything about weather. I just wake up each day and look out the window and perhaps check a weather report. And, I don't spend too much time obsessing about weather, because I can't do much about it.

Mo, this is one of the best photos I have seen recently. It is wonderfully inviting, with the golden carpet.

It's been unseasonably warm this month in Montreal as well, but I've been looking at the 14 day trend regularly and it looks like we're in for a major cool-down soon! I would therefore be very surprised if we didn't have snow for Christmas, I can only remember ever seeing that happen once or twice!
