Under the Spotlight

City Boys. What does that mean to you? How do they feel? Are they bankers or insurance brokers or restaurateurs, may be something else. What do you think about them or what they may represent?

The style of this photo, its composition and the stagger of their walk remind me of photographs of young, working class Londoners in the middle years of the twentieth century, before colour was used.

(It's a bit difficult to see them properly, not just because of the sun behind them but because, if you click on the picture, the new lightbox opens and once that's happened you can't get from there back to this page - at least, I couldn't find a way. Had to close and reload.

Great image!
They look "wealthy and healthy."
They look more formal than young men over here.....

But what do I really know?
They could be poor depressed unemployed people with a serious illness ......

That is the thing. Nobody knows.

They look as though they're relaxing after work, ties off, shirts undone - glad to be out in the open air.

Nice contre-jour; these are always effective in black & white, might be worth a conversion.

Very good shot! Love it.
Them, too much money in their pockets, you need to relieve them of this!

Dunno when this pic was taken. There is a strong police presence around the Stock Exchange in the background; several mounted police and anor bobby front left. Looks to me like these lads couldn't get into Leadenhall and are going to try anor way in. Prolly turned out of their office coz of a scare and they're now looking for a pub for a drink.

This picture is quintessential London. It reminds me of the lunch hour when everyone is outside looking for a place to do lunch, or businessmen racing from one meeting to the next. And the sun's rays are just perfect for this!

The interesting thing about these three guys is that they look like friends but they do different things. I think one might be a banker or insurance broker and one owns a night club and one a teacher. Regardless, this photo is just great. I love the arms of the sun reaching down to embrace these three. It makes them look successful no matter what they do.

They make me think of my younger brother who is an accountant and all his accountant buddies. Nowhere to go but up!

They look like they don't have a care in the world.

And I agree with the above comment that it woudlbe very striking in black & white.

I am suffering from a failure of imagination today, so I know nothing about them. But I do think that your image is spectacular. Don't listen to anyone who tells you not to shoot into the sun.

They remind me of the many hard working business men, whom work hard, and they are eager to look for a place to play hard. In search of a place to relax and unwind! Great photo.
