Reading for Fun

The reading festival in Trafalgar Square today is going to be loads of fun. It's aim is to get more people reading, especially kids. Authors, celebrities and even royalty will be reading their favourite stories.  Live performances from Billy Elliot, Horrible Stories, "we're going on a bear hunt" and many more.  Creepy House are one of the tents in the square with their cool kids books

I am always reading at least one novel, at the moment 2666 by Roberto BolaƱo, and I was chocked to learn that a guy I know told me last week that he had never ever in his life read a book!

Yes, this does seem like a great event. I read once that the Harry Potter series had a noticeable influence on getting kids to read. Many people of my generation have one or more books going at all times.

Now that is an important festival with a great theme. Reading really can make such a difference in a young person's life. I read Stef's comment above and think I would have been shocked too if someone had told me that.
