Myatt's Park is now a heritage site so will be enjoyed by future generations, thanks to the efforts of the local residents and the Minet family. The Minet family were among the Huguenots who fled France in the 17th century. A century later Hugh Minet purchased the estate that this park was a tiny part of. Another century on his descendant James Minet who was very philanthropic gifted this land from the estate to create a public park. It was named after Joseph Myatt a tenant market gardener who grew cabbages, rhubarb and strawberries here in the 19th century.

It's a beautiful park. I'm so impressed by all the beautiful parks in the London area. When I went up to Highgate Cemetery I discovered another beautiful park on the way there called Waterlow Park.
I remember the Victorian bandstands from my time as a boy in Sheffield. All the parks had them and most weekends there would be brass bands playing in them. But that was a fair few decades ago.
It's nice to have spots like this in the big city.
Nicely composed, and a gazebo is always something that catches my eye.

We all owe gratitude to philanthropists who make fine donations of one kind or another to benefit the public. Love the gazebo.
