Heartbeat

One Hundred Thousand white balloons adorn the arcade in Covent Garden.  "Heartbeat" is the installation of French Photographer and visual artist Charles Petillion.  Photographs of more of his installations can be seen in a pop-up gallery.

The artist uses balloons in his installations as metaphors invading everyday spaces aiming to change the way we see the everyday without noticing.  The installation here certainly has everyone noticing.   Pop down and take a look and make sure you see the photo gallery as well.

Peace and Love

A large hot pink flower sits on the banks of the Thames at Pimlico.  The fibreglass flower is the work of artist Ana Azarev as part of her campaign titled Love and Peace.

Her ambitious project aims to install one of her large bright flowers in cities throughout the world.  She believes that art and beauty will convince nations to "foster mutual appreciation and hope".  Perhaps it is no accident that the offices of MI5 are directly across the river and the new American Embassy just up the road.

The Anti Gallery Show

A demonstration site, an encounter space and an ideas laboratory is how the Espacio gallery describes the latest installation: "the anti gallery show".  Thirty five artists and art groups have collaborated to create unique works designed to challenge the nature of the art world and how art space is used.

The show includes performances, constructed works, some being constructed as part of the show, dance, recitals and much much more.
