An ever changing station and surrounding area in the Paddington basin.

Paddington Basin

More buildings have popped up since the last time I wandered through the Paddington Basin with my camera.  At ground level there are cafes and bars that look very inviting.  There are a lot more canal boats than I've seen moored here before, although that may just be  coincidental as they may be en route  to elsewhere.  What really caught my eye however was the large glowing moon, which is still a couple of days away from being a full moon.

Chiling Out

It was a couple of weeks ago in case you think we are having a new burst of sunshine, however I still had a jacket on.

Blue Reflections

A dull day presented a challenge for creating an interesting image.  Blue boats on a murky canal provided an interesting option.

Something is Wrong

The CEO of Google's salary package is £138 million.  Google has entered an agreement with HMRC to pay £130 million in tax for the past 10 years.

GAP has not paid tax at all in the UK since 2011.  The minimum wage in the UK is £6.70.  The average wage is £26,500 pa.

Junior doctors are on strike, they are being asked to work 24/7 under conditions that effectively cut their pay.

Something is wrong with what we value and how it is rewarded.

Gizmo

Gizmo the veiled chameleon seemed unfazed but her admirers.  Her owner  said she was definitely posing for my camera.  "Is it a boy or girl?" I asked, and "how can you tell?"  Very easily.  Girls are green.  Boys are brightly coloured, the helmet on their head is much bigger and they are born with a heel.  Native to Yemen and Saudi Arabia, Gizmo seemed very comfortable being surrounded with her London admirers.

More on the floating Bookshop

A couple of days ago  did a post on the floating bookshop with an image of it moored in Regent's Canal over Kings Cross way.  A supporter of the floating word barge asked that you be made aware of their struggles to get a permanent mooring at Paddington.   Here is the link she would like you to read along with a petition if you would like to support their cause.

Paddington in the Bookstore

Big comfy chairs, thousands of books, London book stores are a great place to wile away a few hours.  And meet a few London icons.

New Dress

Re-Dress is the name of the new art work at the entrance of Edgware Road underground station.  Designed by artist Jacqueline Poncelet, the brightly coloured panels are a companion to an art work titled"wrapper."

Wrapper also designed by Poncelet, covers the entire exterior of the building behind the station.  The works certainly brighten up what has been a rather dull corner of the city.

Fly with me

Ok so it's an advertising stunt, but it's still a bit quirky don't you think?

Gnomes

Where did the tradition of garden gnomes come from. Are they all friendly or are some malevolent?  This gnome is sitting in the roof top garden of a canal boat.  Perhaps he should have had a fishing line rather than a pipe.

A Seat at Paddington

Is it me or does the circle line seem to be always delayed at Paddington, then when it does come it's too full to get on.
