Rain Today

More weather, rain yesterday and today.  Fingers crossed for sunshine tomorrow.

A Bit Breezy

A bit of wind and rain in London, however this is nothing compared to what other parts of the country are having to deal with.  The north of England and parts of Scotland have been flooded, some for the third time this month with water levels higher than has been experienced in many decades.

May 2016 bring a better year for all.

Rainy Day Activities

I began with a lot of enthusiasm for rainy day pictures, but the reality of venturing out in to it didn't have the same pull as the idea of it.  I settled for a glimpse out of a window.

So what did I do instead?  Well I have this new PNY MicroSD card that I wanted to try out in both my small camera and my phone.  The package says for smartphone or tablet and "also compatible with compact camera".  So I gave it a whirl.

To use as an SD in a compact camera the micro card comes with an SD adapter.  It is easy to use and certainly very impressive, and as effective as a standard SD card.  However if shooting raw (as I do) then a extreme performance SD card is probably a better option for faster transfer speeds.

So I popped it into my ageing smart phone.  (I'm resisting pressure to upgrade.  It is a perfectly good phone.) I have been hovering on the edge of using up the storage so increasing this facility seemed like a grand way to give extended life to the pink pimped old chap.

Seriously simple to pop the card into the allocated slot and then copy all those pics and music across.  Seemed fast enough to me.  To check it out though I downloaded an app that would give me all the tech specs (for those of you who simply love numbers).  My app tells me it is reading at 13MB/s and writing at 14MB/s.

With the additional 32GB I have I can now store 14226 small file images or 3161 biggies or 480 mins of  high quality video.

So far it's performed as claimed.  I'm pretty happy with it.

Staying Indoors

It's too wet to go outdoors at present.  Yes I know you can get great rain pictures but I'm preferring to stay warm and dry thanks.

Rainbow

A little bit of rain isn't so bad when it produces a rainbow as pretty as this one.  A passing tourist was very excited commenting that he didn't expect to see something like this in London!

A Brolly Day

Best you take your brolly with you when you go out today.  The afternoon promises to be sunnier.

A Wee Ray of Sunshine

We had a wee break in the rain yesterday afternoon and the sun came out.  A rather rare beast these past few weeks.  Spare a thought for those in other parts of the country who are wading about in flood water with a months worth of rain predicted to fall today.

A Wee Bit of Rain

We've had a wee bit of rain lately.  For Londoners it has just meant an umbrella.  For those in the south or coastal areas of the UK it has been terrible with some of the worst flooding in decades.  Houses have been washed away, vehicles blown over and services disrupted.  Thousands of people have had to be evacuated from their homes.   Let's hope the worst is over.

Another Brolly Day

Yep it's another brolly day today.  I guess the lovely summer clothes in the store will go on sale soon.

Spring

Spring currently means an ability to spring from warm clothes to cooler clothes, brolly or sunglasses, all in one day.

Think I'll stay indoors today. We are luckier than some, in other parts of the country, who have had to evacuate their houses as the threat of serious floods looms over them.

Bank Holiday

Bank holiday weekend has begun with rain and thunder storms. As if that isn't bad enough how do you feel when the bus makes you wetter than the rain.

It is very English to obsess about the weather and even more so this summer. It has been the wettest ever recorded. Today however we have fingers and toes crossed that it will be sunny.

Love London

The rain doesn't bother everyone. I'd like to know how much more of this rain before we stop hearing we are still in a drought. Even a flood or two hasn't changed the status.
