Stand on the RIght

The rules in London are that you must stand on the right when taking an escalator, this allows those in a desperate hurry to run or walk briskly on the left.
Never, never stand on the left.  Now how are you supposed to know that if you are a visitor?  Well initially by the runners getting cross.
Recently some of the stations with large numbers of tourists have been given another clue.  Blue footprints painted on the escalators.  The British like to be subtle about these things.

Enjoying Waiting for a Train

What a pleasant wait for a train. The art work that runs along the platform is by artist Clare Woods, influenced by the surrounding area, particularly the pools on the Heath.
A quick check and I found this map of art on the underground. A project looming to bring it all to you I think.

Steaming out of Kings Cross

Yesterday morning the Bittern departed from Kings Cross station. A rare sight from a train that retired in 1967.

A brief post as I am racing to catch a plane. Over the next couple of weeks I may not have time to visit you but will do my best to leave you a picture.

Kings Cross Station

Over 47 million people a year pass through this station. At present it looks like a work site. The upgrading will continue until 2013. All part of the redevelopment work in the area. Once known as a hang out for prostitutes and drug addicts, now trendy and known as mid-town.
